Hello, welcome to this edition! 👋
Creating quality content consistently is a massive challenge for most marketers and founders.
So I had to look into this and help you…
I've been posting on LinkedIn every single day for over three years. Now I also post YouTube videos 4 times a month, YouTube Shorts weekly, IG reels, Substack notes, weekly newsletter, and content for my course.
How am I able to create so much content without burning out?
My secret is repurposing.
Today, you’re going to learn how I consistently create 40+ pieces of high-quality content every single week.
Here’s what you’ll learn in this edition:
Why the standard approach to repurposing is broken (and what to do instead)
My 7 proven repurposing tactics to generate 40+ pieces of content weekly
How I turned a single post into $270,000 (real case study)
But first…
The struggle of creating content from scratch
Many creators find themselves trapped in an endless cycle of creating content from scratch.
They need to post a YouTube video, so they think of an idea for one.
They need to write a Substack newsletter, so they think of an idea for one.
They need to post an Instagram reel, so they think of an idea for one.
Trust me… this is a quick way to start resenting content creation. And it breeds inconsistency. What you need is a few good tactics that help each of your ideas go further.
So, here are 7 content repurposing tactics you can start implementing today:
1. Use the ‘extend’ process (not the ‘cut’ process)
Most creators approach repurposing backward.
They create a long-form piece, like a podcast, then cut it into smaller pieces.
I do the opposite:
I start with one core idea or insight.
Then I build content around that one core insight.
That means I’m able to create YouTube videos, Substack articles, LinkedIn posts, and more around just a single idea.
In doing so, I can expand on the context of the idea in new ways and build content specifically for the platform I’m creating for (rather than awkwardly trying to cut a podcast down into a YouTube short, for example).
2/Use the 1 = 15 rule
One idea becomes:
1 carrousel
1 infographic
1 newsletter
1 blog post
1 long-form video
5 short-form videos
5 written posts
That’s 15 assets from a single idea.
Do this three times a week and you have 45 pieces of content a week.
Whereas other creators are forced to come up with 45 ideas a week to compete with me, I only need three good ones.
3/Create a library of visual assets
I have my own personal collection of background templates, icon sets, graph designs, and illustration styles.
This means I can create infographics and frameworks to visualize my ideas in minutes, rather than the hours it used to take me.
4/Create a list of predetermined outlines
I don’t always write from scratch every time.
I use predetermined outlines that I’ve built up over my years of posting content.
For example, it only takes me 30 minutes to turn a LinkedIn post into a carrousel because I already know the headline, flow, and format before I start.
When you systemize your outlines, repurposing becomes so much easier.
5/Plan your repurposing before you create content
Most creators repurpose after they publish their content.
This limits their options for repurposing (it’s hard to turn a good podcast clip into a Substack article, for example).
Instead, I map out where each of my ideas will go before I create anything.
When I come up with an idea for content (say ‘How I create 40+ pieces of content a week’ for example), I think “how will I use this across video, social, and email?”
This forces me to really think about and plan where I’m going to take this idea.
6.Build a feedback loop
Great content starts with understanding what your audience wants to see.
Every week, I track what my audience is engaging with and what questions they’re asking for.
I do this through social listening (what are people mentioning often in my comments), polls, and keyword analysis.
This makes the ideation process smooth. And it means I’m not ‘guessing’ about what content to make, I’m simply responding to demand.
7/I use a ‘master content’ system to drive 3-month campaigns from one big piece
I've perfected a system to run an entire 3-month marketing campaign from ONE central piece of content.
This makes the organic marketing process as effortless as it can be.
(More details on this system below.)
Here is a recap of the 7 tactics:
Case study: How one LinkedIn post turned into $270,000
Do you want proof my content repurposing system works?
Look no further than the very existence of my Authority-First Content course!
It started as a LinkedIn post:
Then I turned it into a Substack newsletter, just like the one you’re reading now:
Then I used it in a YouTube video:
At this point, the idea was validated.
People liked it and were getting value from it.
But I knew I had more expertise to teach about authority content, and I wanted to test if people would be interested in learning more.
So, I created a waitlist and published a few posts promoting it:
(And a little marketing tip for you… when you have hundreds of people sign up to a waitlist in only a few days, you know your product idea is validated.)
That course, Authority-First Content has gone on to generate me $270,000+ in revenue… and it all started as a single LinkedIn post!
That is the power of repurposing content.
Great .. and helpful. Thanks for sharing this
Just joined Substack and found your page from Linkedin! There is SO much value packed in this one newsletter. Thanks so much for sharing! Can't wait to dig in more using these frameworks.
